Welcome

photo of a doctor looking at a patient's skinOur residency is a traditional three-year structured program in clinical dermatology. Clinical research is encouraged. The Department of Dermatology opened in 1977. Since its inception, we have accepted about two residents per year.

Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine is a community-based program so there is no single university hospital. Residents train at multiple sites including continuity clinics at Wright State Physicians medical building on campus, and at the Dayton VA Medical Center. We have inpatient consults at Miami Valley Hospital.

Applications for 2024

We will accept two residents for a start date of July 1, 2026.  To be considered for the 2026 program, applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The application deadline is October 18, 2024. Applications not completed by that date will not be considered. Applicants selected for interviews will be offered a choice of two interview dates:

  • December 13, 2024
  • January 24, 2025

Applicants who have not yet completed an internship are encouraged to consider applying for the transitional year offered by nearby Kettering Medical Center (KMC) or Soin Medical Center (SMC). Matching with KMC or SMC is not a requirement for acceptance to our residency, but rather it is often an applicant’s preference, and many have chosen that path. For an overview of either program, visit the Kettering Medical Center Transitional Year Program or Soin Medical Center Transitional Year Program websites.
